Happy couples will have 'best wedding they can afford'

20th August 2008

Happy couples will have the best wedding they can afford this year, despite the credit crunch, according to one expert.

With the average wedding in the UK now costing over £20,000, according to the National Cost of Wedding Survey 2008, there had been suggestions that some couples would try and cut the cost of their celebrations.

Francesca Moore, PR and marketing executive at hitched.co.uk, said: "Brides and grooms-to-be will try and have the best wedding that they can afford regardless of the way the economy is going at the moment."

Even if couples are planning on cutting back on the costs of their ceremony, it is advisable that they are still covered by a wedding insurance policy in case of the worst.

Whatever the cost, Ms Moore believes that it is not the price of a wedding that matters, but what it represents.

"We do hear about a lot of budget weddings, but on the flipside we also see a lot of lavish five-star weddings.

"In the end a wedding day is all about the bond, relationship and love between two people"
