Couples reminded of importance of wedding insurance
11th July 2008
Planning your big day can be an all-encompassing affair, but husbands and wives-to-be have been warned that they should still take a moment to sort out their wedding insurance.
According to Direct Line, the cost of a typical wedding is so huge that it is well worth investing in some insurance, in the eventuality that something goes wrong or the ceremony needs to be postponed.
What's more, the company has pointed out that in the lead up to a wedding and in the weeks following it, couples are more likely to have increasingly expensive home contents.
As such it is vital that they are covered for damage or theft.
Andrew Lowe, head of home insurance at Direct Line, has asserted that while sorting out wedding insurance can seem like an extra burden, it is nonetheless worth arranging.
He explained: "No one wants to worry about insurance when they're planning the most important day of their lives. It's understandable that people have a higher value of contents than usual close to their wedding date."
Recently, Halifax warned that engaged couples should ensure that they are "adequately insured when it matters most".
